1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow
A 1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow (I) arriving at and leaving South OC Cars and Coffee at the Outlets at San Clemente. Introduced in 1965, the Silver Shadow replaced the Silver Cloud and featured unibody construction, four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, and self-leveling suspension. This example is one of 16,717 standard-wheelbase (Silver Shadow I) steel saloons built.
It's unfortunate that I tend to see more Silver Shadows at repair shops than anywhere else - proof that affordable Rolls-Royces may not be as wallet-friendly over time. Here's a rare example that appears to be in excellent condition inside and out. The Silver Shadow combined the quad headlamps first introduced on the Silver Cloud III with more squared-off bodywork that paved the way for future models. Even though its exterior dimensions are smaller than those of the Silver Cloud and it doesn't quite have the commanding presence of its boxier successor, it's still a beautiful and classy car that confidently and unpretentiously makes a statement wherever it goes. This example looks great with its two-tone paint, and while right-hand-drive may be an inconvenience here in the States, it certainly fits the car's distinctively British character and adds to its cool factor. I've seen this car on multiple occasions, and I hope it remains in excellent working condition for its owner to enjoy.
If you had this car, would you keep it in running condition and drive it regularly? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
