2005 Acura NSX NA2 Honda NSX-R Conversion
A white 2005 Acura NSX-T arriving at and leaving South OC Cars and Coffee at the Outlets at San Clemente. This car, originally finished in Berlina Black with tan interior, has been modified to resemble the rare Japanese-market NA2 Honda NSX-R (also known as NSX Type-R) built from 2002 to 2005. The NSX-R was available only in right-hand drive with a fixed top. It features a vented hood and larger rear spoiler and was most commonly finished in Championship White with white wheels, black roof, and red interior with Momo steering wheel and Recaro seats.
Many JDM enthusiasts would agree that the NSX-R is among the most desirable Japanese supercars ever made. The fact that it was never sold here in the States only adds to its mystique. There's no doubt this particular car isn't an original NSX-R, since those were all right-hand drive and had fixed tops. I don't know if the owner implemented any of the R's performance upgrades, but visually it's certainly a very good recreation, from obvious cues like the revised bodywork and color scheme to smaller details like the seats, steering wheel, and deleted side marker lights. I've read that there are tuner companies that can upgrade standard U.S.-spec NSXs to what are essentially left-hand drive NSX-Rs, though I'm not sure if this example is one of those cars. Either way, it's an incredible car with a beautiful and instantly recognizable spec that's sure to catch the attention of JDM fans.
