A rare white 1981 BMW M1 arriving at and leaving Cars and Coffee at Crystal Cove Shopping Center with a red BMW M1 from the same owner's collection. Originally intended to be produced in partnership with Lamborghini, the M1 was BMW's first mid-engined supercar and the first BMW sold to the public with an M badge. Built between 1978 and 1981, it had a fiberglass body designed by Giugiaro and was powered by BMW's M88 six-cylinder engine which was originally developed for the M1 and later modified for use in the E24 M635CSi and the E28 M5. This example features a Procar widebody kit installed by AC Schnitzer. It is one of less than 460 M1's built and only two imported to the U.S. with the AC Schnitzer widebody installation.
