A brand new orange 2025 Lamborghini Urus SE starting up and idling in different driving modes at the Bugatti Newport Beach (Newport Beach Automotive Group) Hyper Car Show. Introduced in April 2024, the Urus SE is a plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine mated to an electric motor producing a total of 789 horsepower, making it the most powerful Urus variant. It also features revised styling for improved aerodynamic efficiency and four new Electric Performance Strategies (EPS) driving modes. Customer deliveries of the Urus SE are expected to begin at the end of 2024.

I must say, this car's name was a catchy and clever idea. "SE" is most commonly associated with special edition Lamborghinis such as the Diablo SE30 and the Gallardo SE. Well, as a plug-in hybrid variant of Lamborghini's SUV, the Urus SE is what many car enthusiasts might consider the least interesting version of Lamborghini's least interesting model. Yet it's essentially an Urus S with an "E" (electric) powertrain component, so "SE" it is!

The SE's styling is controversial, not because the vehicle has a particularly polarizing appearance, but because it looks softer than the other Urus variants - something uncharacteristic of a brand known for increasingly bold and angular designs. Maybe Lamborghini is trying to further broaden the mainstream appeal of what is already its most popular model, which would make sense given the hybrid powertrain should help accomplish that very same goal. But it's hard to not miss the days when you can't buy a hybrid crossover SUV and brag about owning a Lambo. I won't deny, though, that I appreciate Lamborghini's decision to visually differentiate the SE from other Urus variants. (The Urus S and Urus Performante are nearly indistinguishable from the outside.) And honestly, I think it looks pretty good. Plus, being a Lambo, this hybrid certainly utilizes electrification for performance no less than it does for efficiency. And it sure sounds good, too!

Would you choose the hybrid Urus SE over the Urus S or Performante? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
