Ford Aluminator-Powered Superlite SL-C (w/ startup)
A red 2022 Superlite SL-C arriving at and leaving Cars and Coffee at Finish Line Auto Club. The sister company of Detroit-based RCR (Race Car Replicas), Superlite Cars offers products in both kit and turnkey form. The SL-C features a GRP (fiberglass) body and an aluminum monocoque chassis. This example, finished with Race Tail body style, is equipped with 19"/20" Forgestar CF10 wheels, Graziano transaxle, and twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter Ford Aluminator Coyote V8 engine.
Despite the fact that "Superlite" sounds like a really bad beer, this is a car I had been wanting to see in person for a very long time. With so many spaceship-looking mid-engined supercars on the market today, the SL-C features a surprisingly original design that's both simple and effective. I doubt anyone will mistake it for a million-dollar hypercar, but its build quality certainly exceeds that of just about any kit car manufacturer.
I'm always glad to see lesser-known car companies steer clear of plastering their products with decals and logos. This looks like a car you could buy straight from a dealer showroom; aside from some subtle badging, you can't tell what kind of car it is if you don't already know. Its design and build quality speak for themselves, and those who care to know more will ask. Needless to say, the owner got slammed with questions from the moment he opened that upward-swinging door. Hopefully he enjoyed all that attention, because in a car that looks like it belongs on the Le Mans circuit, I doubt there's anywhere he can go without turning lots of heads!
