Ford GT40 Mk I Superformance Continuation (w/ startup)

A Ford GT40 Mk I continuation car by Superformance arriving at and leaving Legacy Cars & Coffee at Flight at Tustin Legacy. This car, chassis no. GT40P/2358, was commissioned by its owner in 2018 and is finished in blue and orange Gulf livery like the car that won Le Mans in 1969. It is powered by a Roush 427 V8 engine mated to an RBT ZF 5-speed transaxle. The car was featured in the official music video of "Hora de Salir" by Chencho Corleone.

Opinions vary widely on whether cars like this should be considered historic vehicles or modern kit cars, but the fact is that original GT40s are so rare (and so expensive) that it's hard even for the wealthiest of collectors to enjoy driving them as intended without worrying about the financial and historical risk. And given that a Superformance GT40 still costs as much as many exotics, it's safe to say owners are neither financially challenged nor simply trying to pose for attention. This isn't some cheap knock-off with disproportionate styling and pretentious wheels, but rather an authorized continuation car with a continuation chassis number. I absolutely agree that it sucks to have the rarity and value of historically significant cars tainted by continuation models. But this is about as close as anyone will get to enjoying being behind the wheel of one of America's most important race cars without fearing that even a small mishap could destroy an irreplaceable piece of history and cost more than a house.

Would you buy a continuation GT40 to enjoy driving without worrying about value or historical importance? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
