A grey 2024 Ferrari 296 GTS arriving at and leaving "Prebble", a Pre-Monterey (Pre-Pebble Beach) gathering at Oakley headquarters presented by Ancillary Studios in collaboration with HyperSociety.

Whether you consider the 296 a modern-day Dino or a successor to the F8 and 488, the car traces its roots to a time when mid-engine Ferrari models were offered in two distinct body styles, GTB (coupe) and GTS (convertible). GTS cars utilized a removable targa top that, when installed, gave them a profile identical to that of their coupe counterparts. Folding-top convertible variants became a standard offering starting with the 348, after which improvements to folding top mechanisms eventually made the targa body style obsolete. But as those in the fashion world know, history will always repeat itself.

The 296 GTS combines the best of all three worlds. Its hardtop opens and closes automatically just like on previous Spider models. With the top up, the car is nearly indistinguishable from the GTB. And with the top down, it offers the unique style and open-air experience of traditional targa models. This is exactly what a modern-day GTS should be, and I have no doubt it will be a popular choice for Ferrari shoppers who enjoy the lovely Southern California sunshine.

Do you prefer the 296 as a GTB (coupe) or a GTS (convertible)? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
