Grey 2024 Porsche 911 Dakar (w/ acceleration)
A rare grey 2024 Porsche 911 (992) Dakar arriving at and leaving the Bugatti Newport Beach (Newport Beach Automotive Group) Hyper Car Show. Introduced at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Dakar is named for the Paris-Dakar Rally which Porsche won in 1984 with its first all-wheel drive 911. Based on the 911 (992) Carrera 4 GTS, it is powered by the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 473 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque and features increased ground clearance, a lift system, retuned suspension, Pirelli Scorpion all-terrain tires, and two new driving modes (Rallye and Offroad). Production of the Dakar is limited to 2,500 units with a starting price (MSRP) of around $223,000.
I'm surprised how good this car looks in a solid color without any livery. Yes, it's a bloated 911. But from the fenders to the wheels to the roof rack, it has just the right amount of trail-loving upgrades to complete its rugged and sporty look. And with the engine from a Carrera GTS, it's certainly no less potent than it looks. I don't know how many owners actually take their quarter-million-dollar Porsches off-roading, but one thing that's for sure is that the Dakar was made for having fun. And this owner certainly had a little fun while leaving the event!
