Matte Grey & Chrome Bentley Mulsanne (w/ startup)
A 2016 Bentley Mulsanne arriving at and leaving Kobeissi Properties' Cars & Coffee. This custom car, painted in factory Beluga Black, is wrapped in Dark Matte Gray Metallic with Chrome hood.
There's nothing like the presence of a big, bold ultra-luxury sedan like the Mulsanne. The current Flying Spur isn't quite in the same rarified league, and the Bentayga EWB, which Bentley considers the Mulsanne's replacement, simply can't exude class in the same way. The Mulsanne is an incredible car, even if its headlight design appears a bit odd (especially on pre-facelift examples like this one.) It was pretty much the only car worthy of competing against the mighty Rolls-Royce Phantom (aside from the slow-selling Maybach), and it certainly taught the Phantom to share the spotlight at valets.
Personally, I have mixed feelings about this particular color scheme. The matte grey gives a sinister yet surprisingly classy look, and it helps draw attention to the bright chrome hood and grille. But such extensive use of chrome on a what's already one of the world's most luxurious and expensive sedans comes off as a bit pretentious, especially given how it abruptly ends before the A-pillars. (And extending the chrome beyond the A-pillars would undoubtedly be overkill.) In my opinion, matte colors generally work much better on sleek and angular sports cars than on big sedans. I have to say, though, the more I look at this car, the more it's growing on me. Either way, there's certainly no mistaking it for anybody else's Bentley!
