New $2.2 Million 2024 Pininfarina Battista
A brand new yellow 2024 Pininfarina Battista from Automobili Pininfarina Newport Beach arriving at and leaving Ancillary Studios at South Coast Plaza during its Pre-Monterey Gathering (a.k.a. "Prebble"), hosted in partnership with Zuma Cars & Coffee. Introduced in 2019, the Battista, named after Carrozzeria Pininfarina's founder, is powered by four electric motors producing a total of 1,900 horsepower. It features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, an active rear wing, and a 120-kWh T-shaped battery pack supplied by Rimac Automobili. The Battista can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.79 seconds and reach a top speed of over 222 mph. Production began in 2022 and is limited to 150 units with a starting price of $2.2 million. This example is equipped with the optional Furiosa Pack, featuring carbon fiber front splitter, side blades, and rear diffuser.
Pininfarina has designed a wide variety of cars, but it is most commonly known for its supercars, especially those wearing Ferrari badges. So when the company decided to venture into the growing EV market, it only made sense that its first product was a supercar - not only that, but a 1,900-horsepower, $2 million luxury supercar.
The Battista's styling is surprisingly simple and conservative, especially given it comes from a company with nearly a century of experience in car design. When it's parked next to that red 2014 LaFerrari (which, ironically, was not a Pininfarina design), those who don't know cars may not be able to tell which one is newer. And if you compare it to Ferrari's current SF90, most non-enthusiasts might have no idea that one costs around four times as much as the other. But that's definitely not a bad thing. Pininfarina calls the Battista a "Luxury Hyper GT". Even with the optional aero package, it maintains an amazingly clean and smooth design devoid of huge vents and wild spaceship-like angles common in the hypercar world. It looks beautiful and classy without screaming for any more attention than its sleek profile (and bright yellow paint) already calls for. And whenever that giant rear wing pops up, you'll know without doubt that this car means serious business.
Thanks to its electric powertrain, the Battista's acceleration capabilities are otherworldly. If you've never witnessed an electric supercar accelerating hard, trust me, it's a mind-blowing experience. The driver of this car gave it a little push at the end of the video, and seeing it launch forward so quickly while hearing only road noise and other cars' engines was like seeing a ghost. Nearly two thousand horsepower, yet pretty much completely silent! With most cars today still running at least partially on gasoline, this will definitely take getting used to. But it's definitely cool in its own way!
