A new rare 2024 Pininfarina Battista, one of 150 Battistas being built, arriving at and leaving Cars and Coffee at Finish Line Auto Club. With a starting price of $2.2 million, the Battista is powered by four electric motors producing a total of 1,900 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.79 seconds and reach a top speed of over 222 mph. This bespoke example, the Battista Cambiano, was commissioned by Automobili Pininfarina Newport Beach and officially unveiled during Monterey Car Week. Finished in white (Bianco Sestriere), it was inspired by Automobili Pininfarina's Italian hometown and features bespoke door plates and commemorative paint on the underside of the rear wing. It is also the first production Battista to feature houndstooth seat upholstery which was first introduced on the B95 Barchetta.

The successful rise of EVs presented a unique opportunity for brands to reinvent themselves. I'm pretty sure I'll always think of Pininfarina primarily as a design house responsible for countless Ferraris, but in a time when design alone is an increasingly unsustainable business and even Ferrari has left its long-time partner in favor of in-house designers, the famed company must find new ways to stay afloat. So here it is - the first production car badged solely as a Pininfarina. And it's certainly a pretty impressive one, with gorgeous styling expected from the brand and an electric powertrain producing mind-boggling acceleration and a top speed most owners won't come anywhere close to reaching. Even in a simple spec like this, the car looks absolutely gorgeous.

The Battista is marketed as more of a tourer, which may make it a tougher sell to those who prefer the raw performance and wow factor that most hypercars are known for. And it seems like the market for electric cars - including supercars - has hit a slump, with even fellow hyper-EV builder Rimac struggling to find buyers. Only time will tell if there can be enough market demand to allow continued development of these technological masterpieces.

Do you think the Battista looks good with this spec? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
