New Matte Black 2023 McLaren Artura
A new matte black wrapped 2023 McLaren Artura arriving at and leaving Ancillary Studios at South Coast Plaza during its Pre-Monterey Gathering (a.k.a. "Prebble"), hosted in partnership with Zuma Cars & Coffee.
After experimenting with hybrid technology in the exclusive P1 and Speedtail, McLaren has now introduced its first mainstream hybrid model. Despite the electrified powertrain, McLaren didn't make this car look unusually different or futuristic - at least not any more than most McLarens already do. Those who love the look of other McLarens should love this one no less, and those who criticize McLaren for having too many models that are hard to tell apart will simply let it get lost in a sea of other models and variants.
The fact that this car is wrapped was made crystal clear once the driver opened the door revealing the original blue paint. I've always found that to be a bit strange - it can't be that hard to enlarge the wrap by just a few more square feet to cover the inner door frame too (especially when your doors open up and you know people will be looking right at them), right? Usually I think matte colors work better on more angular designs, but matte black looks surprisingly good on this car, adding a stealthy look to an already stealthy profile. And being a hybrid, it can definitely move stealthily too.
I've been starting to catch more Arturas lately, and it will be interesting to see if the new car will be as successful as McLaren's gas-powered models. The Artura replaces the popular 570S (and its variants) as McLaren's entry-level "Sports Series" model and is a key player in the brand's financial well-being. Only time will tell if customers are ready to embrace it.
Do you think the hybrid Artura will be as popular as other McLaren models? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
