New Matte Black 2023 Mercedes-AMG G63 4x4²
A new matte black 2023 Mercedes-AMG G63 4x4² with red interior leaving Cars and Coffee at Finish Line Auto Club. Based on the updated Mercedes-AMG G63 (W463) introduced in 2018, the second-generation 4x4² has a starting price (MSRP) of around $350,000 and features portal axles, unique 22-inch wheels, and carbon fiber fender flares. This example is equipped with the optional roof rack and rear ladder and has been modified with a Brabus carbon fiber hood.
Leave it to Mercedes-Benz (or Mercedes-AMG, whatever...) to build a factory street-legal monster truck for those with bottomless wallets. With the iconic G-Class already well-established as a luxury status symbol, why not put it on huge wheels and lift it so high that you can see truckers at eye level? I've only seen three examples of the latest 4x4² (whoever came up with that name needs to go find a new job...), and two of them were matte black with Brabus hoods. That doesn't surprise me a bit, since matte black is unquestionably suitable for the car's beastly stance and the Brabus hood goes so well with this car's design that it might as well be a factory option. I hope I'm wrong about this, but upon closer examination of that hood, it appears the Brabus piece is simply an extra bulge tacked onto the original hood and the added vents are actually fake. This is disappointing especially coming from such a prominent name in the high-end tuning business. But let's be honest - most people buy this car simply because it's a status symbol, so as long as it looks the part, it gets the job done.
There's really no practical reason for the 4x4² to exist. It's too expensive for most people to afford. It's too big to fit inside most garages and parking structures. And would you actually go off-roading and risk damaging those exposed carbon fiber fenders? For $350K, you can easily buy a standard SUV and modify it to make it even more capable, luxurious, and mean-looking. But it simply won't be a Mercedes-AMG 4x4 Squared, and a Mercedes-AMG 4x4 Squared is exactly what buyers want.
