Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach w/ Martini Livery

A rare 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder, one of 918 built, arriving at Legacy Cars & Coffee at Flight at Tustin Legacy. This example, no. 753, is finished in GT Silver Metallic with Martini livery and is equipped with the Weissach package (an $84,000 factory option).

When Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren all launched hybrid hypercars around the same time, the Porsche was notably less expensive and had a much larger production run. Maybe that's why many car spotters don't get as excited about seeing a 918 Spyder as they do when a P1 or LaFerrari shows up. But come on, just look at this thing! Just like with the Carrera GT, Porsche did an unbelievably good job of building a production car faithful to the original concept. It still looks futuristic even almost a decade later, and seeing such a powerful car move silently in electric mode is truly an otherworldly experience. I'm not sure if the grayscale livery was a factory option, but it's certainly an excellent touch to make the car look more racecar-like (it was named after the 917 after all!) without appearing too stickered-up. I actually didn't notice those green mirrors until I was editing this video. If this were a car from any other brand, those mirrors would probably be subject to loads of criticism. Perhaps my eyes are just calloused from having seen too many special edition Porsches with wild graphics packages and bright color-accented design elements. But I can't think of any other logic to explain that somehow, they actually look great just like the rest of this car.

On a side note, special thanks to the owner for setting up this humorous photo op!

Do you think this 918 Spyder can tow the Airstream trailer? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
