Rare 1937 Cadillac Series 70 Fleetwood Sport Coupe (w/ startup)
A rare black 1937 Cadillac Series 70 Fleetwood Sport Coupe (Model 7057) starting up and leaving Peninsula Cars & Coffee at Promenade on the Peninsula, organized by the Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance. The 1937 Series 70 was powered by a 5.7-liter Monobloc V8 engine producing 135 horsepower and was available in four body styles. This example, which underwent a complete restoration by its current owner, was one of around 168 Sport Coupes built, six of which are believed to still exist.
There's nothing like a good ol' Cadillac. In the 1930s, owning a Cadillac was like owning a Rolls-Royce, except with a little more American pride. While the Model 70 was available in a variety of body styles, the Sport Coupe was a particularly sensual design thanks to its rounded roof and tapered rear end. Whether used for business or for pleasure, this car, with its black paint and big American V8, rightfully commanded respect and continues to do so even over 80 years later.
