Rare 1941 Graham Hollywood Supercharged Sedan
A rare 1941 Graham Hollywood Supercharged arriving at and leaving the 2021 San Marino Motor Classic at Lacy Park. The Hollywood was built by Graham-Paige Motors Corporation under agreement with Hupp Motor Company using body dies of the Cord 810/812 Beverly sedan acquired by Hupp after Cord's demise. Despite strong initial interest, manufacturing problems and delays ultimately resulted in weak sales. Production estimates range from around 1,400 to around 1,850 units.
Most Americans today associate the Graham name with a cracker used to make s'mores. Look up "Graham" on Wikipedia, and you'll find an English clockmaker and a geographic region in Antarctica before arriving at the Graham-Paige car company. But yes, there was a Graham car company (the Paige name was dropped by the time this car came out). And while the Hollywood ultimately failed to save the company, it's still a beautiful car, using Cord's stylish bodywork without the controversial "Coffin Nose". I think the Hollywood's (and Skylark's) three-piece front grille fits the car very well, and it looks good now just as it did in the 1940s.
Do you think the Hollywood could have saved the Graham-Paige car company if it weren't for the production/delivery delays? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
