Rare Barn Find 1961 Abarth 1000 Bialbero by Zagato
A rare 1961 Abarth 1000 Bialbero with bodywork by Zagato arriving at Macchinissima II at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens. Based on a Fiat 600, the Bialbero features a modified engine with increased output and dual overhead camshafts (DOHC) and aerodynamic bodywork by Zagato. This barn find example belongs to one of the founders and organizers of Macchinissima.
You know you're cool when you've got a car the age of most retirees that has lost its paint, lights, and driver's side door and needs to be pushed by the people it was meant to carry, yet deserves the spotlight at a curated car show. I don't know if this car even has an engine, but it's safe to say that even if it does, there's a little work that needs to be done before it's ready to run. Still, the car was definitely a nice surprise to see among numerous classics with shiny paint jobs that look brand new, and I look forward to seeing how its owner plans to repair and restore it.
Do you think this car's owner should give it a full restoration, or fix only the mechanicals and leave it looking like a barn find? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
