Rare Imported 1997 TVR Cerbera
A rare purple 1997 TVR Cerbera arriving at and leaving the Motor4Toys Charity Car Show & Toy Drive at Los Angeles Pierce College with a red TVR Cerbera. This car is powered by a 4.2-liter AJP8 Speed Eight V8 engine producing 360 horsepower and was featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage in February 2024. Both Cerberas belong to TVR Garage, an Arizona-based company specializing in importing and servicing TVRs in the United States.
Given that the United States began as a bunch of English colonies, it's funny how we American car enthusiasts have become so obsessed with importing JDM cars but haven't shown nearly as much love to brands like TVR. Thankfully, the appropriately named TVR Garage aims to change that by helping raise awareness of the cars and provide assistance in importing and maintaining them. TVRs are best known for their no-nonsense straight-to-business driving experience, with no ABS, airbags, or traction control. If you're crazy enough to love driving a Carrera GT or a first-generation Dodge Viper, you'll certainly have a blast in one of these. Plus, you can bring a few additional passengers along for the ride. The Cerbera features an organic design that's both simple and sporty, with incredibly long doors to facilitate rear seat access. And for this car TVR even built its own engines - something few small car companies have managed to do. The ever-growing JDM scene has clearly proven that we Americans have an endless appetite for cars that are hard to find parts for and require driving on the "wrong" side of the road - even cars that aren't particularly fast or cool. So given the TVR's uncompromised driving experience and undeniable cool factor, I believe (and certainly hope) that more and more of these cars will start appearing on U.S. roads as they become legal to import.
