Rare Lamborghini Centenario Roadster (w/ startup)
A very rare blue 2017 Lamborghini Centenario Roadster starting up and driving at the Koenigsegg Ghost Squadron Experience event at South Coast Plaza. Based on the Aventador SVJ, the Centenario was built to commemorate Ferruccio Lamborghini's 100th birthday. It features unique bodywork and is powered by a modified version of the SVJ's 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 759 horsepower. This example, finished in two-tone Blu Cepheus and Blu Hera, is one of 40 Centenarios (20 coupes and 20 Roadsters) built between 2016 and 2017.
Plenty of debate surrounds the topic of whether the Centenario should be considered a hypercar since it's ultimately "just" a heavily revamped Aventador with extremely limited production and a seven-figure price tag. But technicalities aside, the bottom line is it's a rare multi-million-dollar Lambo with unique performance upgrades and styling. And of course, in this money-milking day and age, even insanely rare special editions need a convertible variant. This is one heck of a cool car, but I'm not gonna lie, I don't think it's particularly good-looking. There's just way too much going on visually for the sake of making sure the Centenario stands out from the already somewhat busy-looking Aventador, and there are numerous other seven-figure cars that have a more cohesive design and also better performance. Lamborghini couldn't let its rivals have all the fun in the growing hypercar segment, and in this world of increasingly flashy vehicles, few names scream louder than the Raging Bull, especially when there's a V12 and doors that open skyward. And there's no doubt this car screams, especially in this contrasting two-tone color scheme. When all your friends already have Aventadors, this is the perfect way to make sure you still have the coolest car of them all.
