Rare Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster
A rare red 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster, one of 750 GT R Roadsters built, arriving at and leaving Peninsula Cars & Coffee at Promenade on the Peninsula, organized by the Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance.
The GT R Roadster is tied with the Black Series as the most desirable AMG GT model for most enthusiasts, depending on whether you prioritize rarity or performance. The Black Series is undoubtedly the winner on track day, but if want to enjoy high-performance top-down cruising in something more unique than an ordinary AMG GT, the GT R Roadster is the perfect choice. And given the GT R's impressive performance and the Roadster's limited production, the car will probably go up in value pretty quickly.
I have mixed feelings on this particular color scheme. Gold works surprisingly well with the red paint, especially when applied similarly to the graphics on the GT R Pro. But personally I would have toned things down slightly by removing the lettering on the hood stripe and leaving all the Mercedes logos alone. It's always a bit risky to alter the look of a car with such timeless proportions. But then again, that huge rear wing shamelessly interrupting the car's elegant profile serves as a clear reminder that this is, after all, the "R" variant - not quite Black Series territory, but still meant for the track no less than it is for the road. With that in mind, maybe some fancy colors and decals aren't such a bad idea.
