Rare Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R Nismo 400R
A very rare 1996 Nissan Skyline (R33) GT-R Nismo 400R arriving at and leaving the Motor4Toys Charity Car Show & Toy Drive at Los Angeles Pierce College. The Nismo 400R features improvements inspired by Le Mans race cars including upgraded chassis, exhaust, turbochargers, and a bored and stroked RB26DETT (RB-X GT2) engine producing over 400 horsepower. It also features aerodynamic bodywork and Rays Nismo LMGT1 wheels. This example, chassis no. 400R-029, is no. 29 of 44 400Rs built, 40 of which are known to exist. Finished in KR4 Sonic Silver, it is the first (and currently only) 400R in the U.S.
The R33-generation Skyline GT-R often doesn't get as much love as it deserves. Its appearance is relatively soft and it doesn't scream vintage JDM like the R32 or carry the legendary status of the R34. But JDM enthusiasts know that there is no shortage of special editions that affect a car's performance, appearance, and desirability. And if you're one of those enthusiasts, here's an R33 that should steal the spotlight at just about any car event. This car pretty much has it all - Le Mans-inspired performance, unique bodywork, extremely limited production numbers, all combined with the legendary Nismo and Skyline GT-R names. Needless to say, it's an incredibly rare sight, especially here in the States. 400Rs currently trade hands for between one to two million bucks. It's certainly a lot of money for an old Nissan, but this Nismo will undoubtedly be the star of just about any JDM collection.
