Rare Pagani Zonda Tricolore (w/ startup)
A very rare 2010 Pagani Zonda Tricolore, no. 3 of 3 built, starting up and driving onto a transporter after Cars 'N Copters on the Coast at Huntington City Beach. Based on the Zonda Cinque, the Tricolore was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Frecce Tricolori, Italy's national aerobatic team. It is finished in blue exposed carbon fiber with red, white, and green stripes, gold wheels, and a rear-mounted fin.
The Zonda is one of those cars that seem to transcend time. Pagani has built so many variants over such a long span of time that most people don't really care how old or how new it is anymore. Here in the States, seeing a Zonda was once impossible since they were never officially sold here. But thanks to a few hardcore enthusiasts and their good connections and deep wallets, I've now seen a Zonda Cinque, a Cinque Roadster, a Tricolore, a Zonda F, a Zonda S, and even an HP Barchetta. We're quite blessed here in Southern California indeed.
There aren't many cars that look as much like a rocketship as this. Whether it's the low pointy front end, the air ducts and central fin shamelessly sticking out behind the cockpit, or the bundle of exhaust tips out back, this car looks like it was made specially for a sci-fi movie. There are so many limited-production Zonda variants and one-off specs that pretty much every car is more or less a special edition. But the Tricolore's blue carbon fiber bodywork certainly stands out, especially when under direct sunlight. This car may be 14 years old already, but it will always be one of the wildest cars money can buy.
