Unrestored 1924 Packard Single Eight 136 Sport Model Phaeton
A 1924 Packard Single Eight 136 Sport Model with coachwork by Pullman arriving at and leaving the 2023 San Marino Motor Classic at Lacy Park, where it won First in Class (HVA Preservation Cars Through 1942). This unrestored car, chassis no. 206403, received a mechanical recommissioning by Automotive Restorations and was displayed at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where it won the FIVA award for Best Preserved Vehicle.
Packard has always been the best represented pre-war brand at the annual San Marino Motor Classic with well over a dozen cars showing up each year. But while most examples have been restored and polished to look like they just left the dealer lot, here's one that stands out by trading all the sparkly glamour for originality. Other than the requisite mechanical tinkering to keep it in running condition, this car is all original, including its century-old bodywork. Who says shiny and new is the only way to look beautiful?
